How to Survive Loneliness on Valentine's Day

Different people will have different experiences on Valentine's Day. Some will have a blast spending the day with their loved ones, while others will spend it all by themselves. If you're still part of the single's club come Valentine's Day, you don't have to be part of the lonely heart's club. You really don't have to feel lonely.

Here are some tips on how to celebrate Valentine's Day.

1. Avoid lovers' hotspots

Just like in the song "Sunscreen", where it tells you not to read beauty magazines because they will only make you feel ugly, avoid lovers' hotspots or places where you will find many couples like restaurants, the movie theater, etc.

3. Go out with single friends

Make an appointment with your single friends to be each other's dates on Valentine's Day. Do something exciting and fun to do, like having a water gunfight.

4. Send Valentine cards to everyone you love

Don't be picky about who you give cards to, as long as you love these people. Not only will you make these people feel cherished, you do yourself a favor by feeling good. It will also remind you of how blessed you really are with so many special people in your life.

5. Send flowers to yourself

Rather than feel sorry for yourself and mope, send flowers to yourself. Always remember that the most important person in your life is you. So treat yourself and make yourself feel special. Make yourself feel good. Remember the law of attraction, you attract what you strongly feel about.

6. Monitor the mush

If you'll most likely have a hard time on the day itself, monitor all the mush in the days leading up to it. Don't listen to mushy love songs or cheesy songs like "My heart will go on" or "Broken Vow".

7. Do not pretend

Do not pretend that it's not Valentine's Day, instead greeting everyone you meet Valentine's Day. Wear a red shirt, even better, wear panties with heart prints. If you feel rather blue, don't fight the feeling. Permit yourself to feel sad that there isn't a man or a woman in your life. Engage yourself fully in self-pity for an hour or two then STOP. Just stop it.

8. Don't take it personally

If your partner broke it off with you, realize that you weren't dumped, he or she simply made other choices. There's no use for you in trying to hold on to whatever feeling you have. Acknowledging that your partner made rational choices will help you make rational choices for your own good.
